The Health Tourism Unit was established under the General Directorate of Primary Health Care Services of the Ministry of Health with the ministerial authorization no. 1859, dated March 31, 2010. On May 5, 2011 the unit was transferred to General Directorate of Treatment Services under the name of Health Tourism Coordination Unit. Following the enactment of legislative decree no. 663 published in the Official Gazette dated November 02, 2011 concerning the restructuring of the Ministry of Health the unit was restructured as Health Tourism Department within the General Directorate of Health Services.
Our department, after being transferred to the General Directorate of Health Improvement with the ministerial authorization no. 43148, dated December 26, 2013, has been given back to the General Directorate of Health Services again with the ministerial authorization no. 3942, dated August 26, 2016.
“Health Tourism Coordination Council – SATURK” was established under Circular 2015/3 No. 1332, dated February 7, 2015. The Development of Health Tourism, is among the priority topics of priority transformation programs within the objectives of the Tenth Development Plan (2014-2018).
